Australia produces enough food to feed 75 million people, yet the domestic supply chain is brittle. PaddockMap is a free, community-powered map that reconnects Australians with the food grown near them.
The diesel problem
Australia holds about 25 days of diesel at normal consumption rates, on the federal environment and energy department's own 2024-25 figures. Because supermarket logistics rely heavily on long-haul trucking from centralised distribution centres, any significant disruption to fuel imports threatens the shelves in days, not months.
Waiting for 2027
The Australian government commissioned a $3.5M assessment into food supply chain vulnerabilities, due mid-2027. We think information about local food sources should not take years to map.
Built by the community
PaddockMap is crowdsourced. If you know a farm gate, a local butcher or a neighbourhood co-op, you can add it. Every submission is reviewed by a person before it appears, listing is free, and places that have closed are marked rather than quietly left up.
The dataset currently holds 278 approved listings across 185 Australian suburbs, including 25 community contributions. These counts are read live from the database on every request.

Use the submit page at paddockmap.com.au/submit. Fill in the details of the farm gate, market or producer and it goes to a person for review before it appears.
How does PaddockMap keep listings accurate?
Every submission is reviewed by a person before publishing. Owners can claim their own listing to correct hours, produce and location themselves, and places that have closed are marked as closed rather than quietly removed.
