Frequently asked questions

Where can I go strawberry picking on the Sunshine Coast?

Glass House Tropical Fruits at 894 Steve Irwin Way, Glass House Mountains opened for pick-your-own strawberries in June 2026 and is open Saturdays and Sundays from 8am until the fruit sells out. A & C Berry Farm at Landers Shoot, behind Palmwoods, picks Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 8.30am and has a playground on site. McMartin's Strawberry Farm at Bli Bli, which many older guides still list, has closed to the public. Season runs roughly May to October.

What can families do at a Sunshine Coast farm?

Pick-your-own strawberry farms are the most reliable option with young children: the picking is short, the rows are flat and you pay for what you pick. Beyond that, the Ginger Factory at Yandina and Nutworks run factory tours and tastings, and the hinterland dairies at Maleny, Woombye and Kenilworth have shops and cafes where you can see the product being made. Check opening days first, as several run a shop without running tours.

Where can I buy farm gate produce on the Sunshine Coast?

Farm gates are concentrated in the hinterland, around Maleny, Montville, Belli Park, Kandanga and the Mary Valley, with a second cluster inland from Yandina and Eumundi. Many open only on set days or during a picking season, so it is worth checking hours before driving out. Every farm gate on this page lists its address and phone number.

Which farmers markets run on the Sunshine Coast, and when?

Markets run somewhere in the region most days of the week. The largest are the Noosa Farmers Market on Sunday mornings at the Noosa AFL grounds, the Eumundi Markets on Wednesday and Saturday, and the Kawana Waters and Caloundra markets on Sunday. Smaller village markets at Maleny, Montville, Mapleton, Pomona and Witta run monthly or fortnightly.

Can I buy direct from farmers near Noosa?

Yes. Noosa Shire and the country immediately west of it, around Cooroy, Cooran, Pomona, Doonan and Cootharaba, hold a large share of the region's farm gates and small producers. Several sell direct from the property, and most of the rest sell through the Noosa and Eumundi markets.

What food is actually grown on the Sunshine Coast?

Ginger and macadamias around Yandina and Beerwah, pineapples and strawberries on the coastal plain, avocados and custard apples in the hinterland, dairy and cheese at Maleny, Woombye and Kenilworth, coffee at Montville, and seafood, including spanner crab and tuna, landed at Mooloolaba.
